The Angolan Data Protection Agency (APD), represented by a delegation led by its Chairwoman, Maria das Dores Correia Pinto, proposed strengthening capabilities amongst the network's members in São Paulo, Brazil. This proposal was made at the 1st Lusophone Forum of Data Protection Authorities, held on August 26, 2025. The aim is to bolster the technical, legal, technological, and organizational competencies of the authorities that make up the Lusophone Data Protection Network (RLPD), ensuring all members operate with a high level of consistency and professionalism, as stipulated in Article 14 of the network's Statutes.
According to the APD, the rapid advancement of digital technologies, increasing interconnectivity among countries, and the exponential growth in the volume and complexity of personal data processing require authorities to be well-prepared and up-to-date. The proposal's central mission is to drive actions focused on improving the skills of its members, promoting individual and collective performance in the exercise of their duties.
The proposal also aims to ensure that authorities with fewer resources or smaller sizes do not fall behind in drafting and applying regulations or in accessing knowledge about modern technologies and supervision methodologies.
During the forum, RLPD members also approved the creation of Working Groups dedicated to studying strategic and emerging topics such as Artificial Intelligence, biometrics, neural data, video surveillance, and international data transfer. APD is an active member of these groups, contributing technical knowledge and practical experience to advance discussions and formulate joint recommendations.
The Angolan delegation representing the APD includes the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Engineer Maria das Dores Correia Pinto; the Executive Director, Amaro Figueiredo; and the Director of the Board
Support Office, Francisco Ferreira.
