The President of the Board of the Data Protection Agency (APD), Maria das Dores Pinto, who is attending the 47th Global Privacy Assembly in Seoul, Republic of South Korea, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with her counterpart from Brazil's National Data Authority (ANPD), Waldemar Gonçalves, reaffirming the two authorities' commitment to working together to safeguard their citizens' information,
Among the various activities of the Memorandum, the parties undertake, in particular, to promote mutual assistance and technical, regulatory and supervisory co-operation in the field of Personal Data Protection.
"It is our priority to collaborate with other Data Protection Authorities, especially those in Portuguese-speaking countries. To this end, APD, which is already part of the Lusophone Network of Data Protection Authorities, today formalised a bilateral agreement with the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). APD intends to press ahead with similar initiatives with Macau in the near future”, assured Maria Pinto.
