The Nigeria Data Protection Commission has fined Multichoice Nigeria the sum of N766,242,500 (Seven-Hundred-and-Sixty-Six-Million-Two-Hundred-and-Forty-Two-Thousand-Five-Hundred naira) for violating the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act). The investigation which commenced in the second quarter of 2024 was triggered by suspected breach of privacy rights of Multichoice subscribers and illegal cross-border transfer of personal data of Nigerians.

Considering that the Private Credit Information Bureaus (mostly known as CPICs) are auxiliary bodies of the Financial System, under the terms of article 21(c) of Law n.º 14/21, of 19 May, on the General Regime of Financial Institutions, the Data Protection Agency (APD) issued a Circular n.º 01/APD/2024 on 11 October, which guides the terms of information sharing and consultation between financial institutions and CPICs.
In compliance with the provisions of paragraph 3 of article 53 of Law nº. 22/11, of 17 June, the Board of Directors of the Angolan Data Protection Agency makes public that, through deliberations nº. 001, 002 and 003, dated April 30th and June 19th, respectively, the following entities were sentenced to pay a fine for violating personal data protection rules:
